About Us

Keystone has been a dream of Paul and Sarah’s for many years in the making. They first met and married in 2009/2010 while working in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver as counsellors at a Drug and Alcohol program. Paul continued to work in mental health and addictions, while Sarah focused on their growing family. Four kids, a few moves and a Master’s in Counselling later, they were so excited to open their first private practice together here in the heart of Lacombe this winter. They chose Keystone for the name because of the rich symbolism associated with being that important stone that connects one side of a bridge to the other. And that is their goal: to equip any individual needing help to get from where they are now to where they want to be.

ABOUT
SARAH MARTIN, RSW

Offering NeurOptimal® Social Work

I've always wanted to help people when they were struggling, even from a very young age! I started university right after high school and eventually found myself in a social work class and was taken with it right away.

With my bachelors degree in Social Work, I worked in a number of different areas including geriatrics, palliative care,  and employment counselling, but mostly within the mental health & addictions field. I was a Registered Social Worker with the BC College of Social Workers for many years and am now a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers.

I'm excited to be returning to the social work field after taking a break, and am even more excited to be offering Mediation Services & NeurOptimal® for stress reduction and enhanced focus/resilience as a part of the Supportive Counselling services I'll be offering here at Keystone Counselling Services Ltd.

As a Counselling Therapist with the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta, I am dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethical practice. With a Master's degree in Counselling from City University of Seattle and certification as a Basic Accelerated Resolution Practitioner, I offer specialized techniques to help you achieve your goals for effective living.

With over 20 years of experience, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients. My passion lies in engaging with individuals and groups as they develop skills for effective living and cultivate a sense of hope. I have extensive experience supporting survivors of trauma, individuals struggling with substance use, substance-affected family members, and those seeking to boost their self-confidence and lead productive lives.
